Zambezi & national parks
Zambia has 19 national parks, from which South Luangwa is the premier game reserve. South Luangwa National Park has probably the largest variety and game concentration in Africa and perhaps in the world! Experts in hunting safaris consider this park has some of the finest viewing areas. It's rated as one of the top game reserves in the world due to a unique profusion of wildlife. Some rare animals can be found only in South Luangwa National Park. An example is a rare giraffe, the Thornicraft giraffe.
Another great game reserve is Kafue National Park. It's the second largest national park in the world and has twice the size of Yellowstone National Park from United States of America! The park is located in the central-western region of Zambia and offers excellent game viewing, bird watching and fishing.
The park has two unique wetlands. The floodplain Busanga, in the northern sector, is really special. Lunga, Lufupa and Kafue rivers crisscross it. This place is home for many species of animals and birds. The park's southern limit breaks into a another wetland - Nanzhila Plains.
Zambia's major rivers, lakes and wetlands are considered to hold the largest component of water resources in southern area of Africa. There are four major rivers, from wich Zambezi covers the largest part of Zambia. On Zambezi is located lake Kariba. Lake Kariba is the best destination for a hunting safari in Zambia beside Victoria Falls. A another great lake is lake Bangweulu, surrounded by the largest wetland in Africa! This wetland is home for rare antelopes and shoebill stork.
Victoria Falls
Victoria Falls is a beautiful site and is located on Zambezi river, at the border between Zambia and Zimbabwe. The falls are part of two national parks, Mosi-oa-Tunya National Park in Zambia and Victoria Falls National Park in Zimbabwe. Victoria Falls are, of course, one of Africa's major tourist attractions. Each year here come many travelers that make a safari in Zambia to admire this incredible wonder of nature.
